For data protection requests, email us at the address above with the subject line “Data request”. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site and our tutoring service enquiries.

2. What personal data we collect

Contact form

When you use the contact form, we collect: name, phone number, email address, subject of enquiry, and your message.

Free demo class / trial form

When you book a free demo class, we collect:

• Child's first name
• Year / grade
• Curriculum
• Subject(s)
• Preferred days and time
• Parent / guardian name
• Email address
• Phone number (with dial code)
• Optional notes

Other channels

If you contact us by WhatsApp, email or phone, we process the content of those messages and any contact details you share so we can respond.

Analytics & technical data

If you accept analytics cookies, we (and Google, via Tag Manager / Analytics configured in our container) may process technical usage data such as approximate location derived from IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, and referral information. Analytics storage defaults to denied until you consent (Google Consent Mode v2).

3. Children's data (important)

We provide online tutoring to school-age students, including minors. Parents or guardians submit enquiry and booking information and should confirm they have authority to do so.

• We minimise what we collect about the child on public forms — typically the child's first name only, plus year/grade, curriculum and subjects needed for matching.
• We do not knowingly market analytics-based profiling to children. Analytics cookies are controlled by adult consent via our banner.
• UK: Under UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018, the digital age of consent for information-society services is generally 13. Parents/guardians should submit forms for younger children.
• United States (COPPA): For children under 13, we rely on a parent/guardian submitting the enquiry and arranging tutoring. Contact us if you want child-related data deleted.
• We expect appropriate adult supervision for younger learners during online sessions and treat safeguarding of minors as a priority (see also our Safeguarding Policy and Terms of Service).

Essential cookies / storage keep the site working (for example remembering your cookie choice in localStorage under tlm-consent).

Analytics cookies load only after you choose Accept all on our banner. We use Google Consent Mode v2 so advertising and analytics storage default to denied until then. Returning visitors who previously accepted may load analytics immediately based on the saved choice.

You can change your mind anytime via Cookie preferences in the website footer, which reopens the banner.

We use trusted processors and tools. We do not sell your personal information.

• Our tutors.Our tutors are subject specialists based internationally, including in Pakistan, the UK and the Gulf. Each tutor receives only your child's first name, year group, curriculum and subjects — never their surname, contact details, home address, school or photograph. Every tutor is identity-verified, criminal-record checked in their country of residence, reference-checked by phone, and assessed on a live demonstration lesson before teaching a single student.
• Our operations team. Members of our operations and administrative team, some of whom are based in Pakistan, have access to parent contact details and booking and billing records in order to schedule lessons and manage your account.

7. International data transfers

We serve families in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Gulf / Middle East and elsewhere. Personal data may be processed outside the UK / EEA — for example by US-based processors (Google, Web3Forms) or by our tutors and operations team.

Because our tutors and part of our operations team are based outside the UK — including in Pakistan, which is not covered by a UK “adequacy” decision — some personal data is transferred internationally. We are putting in place the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) issued by the Information Commissioner's Office to govern these transfers, supported by a transfer risk assessment. In the meantime, we limit what is transferred: tutors receive only your child's first name, year group, curriculum and subjects. 8. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as we need it:

When a retention period ends, we securely delete or anonymise the data.

9. Your rights by region

Requests about your child's data

If you are a parent or guardian, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about your child (and about you as the adult contact). Email info@thelearningmaths.com with the subject line “Data request”, and tell us what you need. We will respond without undue delay and in any event within one month, as required under UK data protection law (we may extend this by up to two further months in complex cases, and will tell you if so).

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a data protection issue, you can use our Complaints procedure (direct complaint to the company) and/or complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Families outside the UK may also contact their local privacy regulator where applicable.

United Kingdom / European Economic Area (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

You may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Contact us as above to exercise these rights, or see our Complaints procedure. You can also complain to the ICO.

California (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain sharing or sale of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood. Contact us to make a request.

Australia (Australian Privacy Principles)

You may request access to and correction of personal information we hold about you, and complain about how we handle it. Contact us first; you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Canada (PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws)

You may request access to personal information we hold and ask us to correct inaccuracies, subject to limited exceptions. Contact us to exercise these rights.

10. Security, changes & contact

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No online transmission is completely secure.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” line above will change when we do. Material changes may be highlighted on the site or by email where appropriate.
